Shore up the foundation of your marriage through a Marriage Survival Training. These are weekend marriage intensives that will help newlyweds and other couples strengthen their marriages. The 2-day format or group class format offers alternating teaching sessions (marriage psychoeducation) and couple practice time. The intensives are typically held at least twice a year. COUPLES COUNSELING

Married or dating? It is normal for every relationship to have conflict and difficulties at times because every relationship is made up of two different people. It’s how partners repair the ruptures in their relationship that sets apart happy stable couples from couples who are chronically dissatisfied with their relationships. As a trained professional third party, I am cheering and rooting for your relationship, providing a supportive environment, and helping you sort out tricky and complex problem areas.

hands (1)INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

Much can be accomplished with the help of individual therapy — relationship and family dynamics improvement, needs and wants identified and worked towards, substance abuse and addiction recovery, healing from brokenness and trauma, and personal breakthroughs, to name a few! I aim to provide a safe supportive environment that creates the “space” needed for a refreshing respite. During our session, you will be heard and understood. I will help you allow your thoughts and feelings to emerge so that you can regroup and face a new day.

TRAUMA RECOVERY

Trauma can happen as the result of bad things that occurred (e.g., car accident) or the absence of things that should have happened, but didn’t (e.g., emotional nurture). Symptoms can manifest in a variety of cognitive (e.g., negative beliefs), emotional (e.g., mood shifts), somatic/physical (e.g., stomach problems), behavioral (e.g., can’t get motivated), and sensory (e.g., world feels unreal) disturbances. Symptoms may be chronic or flare up suddenly when “triggered.” I employ trauma-informed and experiential strategies, such as “parts work” and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), that help the brain form and integrate new neuropathways. These methods can help clients to reprocess disturbing memories, access healing, improve symptoms, and cultivate more secure attachment styles.

stairs downSPIRITUAL INTEGRATION

I come from a Christian spiritual tradition background and practice. Some clients ask me to use spiritual interventions, such as prayer, inner-healing techniques, or scriptural reflections, in the course of their therapy. I am happy to do upon request as long as permission is given. I regularly use the inner-healing model HeartSync, developed by Father Andrew Miller, which incorporates prayer and core parts exploration. Although some clients may not desire spiritual integration in the therapy process, all clients may benefit from the many other psychotherapeutic strategies that I employ in my practice. Clients should feel free to let me know their preferences, and I will do my best to provide what is most helpful to each client.

Esther is an outstanding therapist who has a deep understanding of therapeutic techniques and an ability to hold a safe space for the client. I wholeheartedly recommend Esther to anyone seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and effective therapist.
