Esther I. Wei is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a private practice in Fremont, CA. She received her master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Western Seminary.
Esther’s prior experience includes providing direct services through the City of Fremont Youth and Family Services; Community Health for Asian Americans in Oakland; New Life Community Services, a residential addiction treatment program in Santa Cruz where she also served as a general manager; and Stratton Counseling Services in Santa Cruz.
As a second-generation Taiwanese-American, Esther was born in Brooklyn, NY, and grew up in Livermore, CA. Esther’s other varied professional background includes architectural engineering, corporate event planning, and nonprofit management. Esther provides separate member care services for GoLiveServe.org (Mountain View, CA) and volunteers with the House of Hope Healing Center (Fremont, CA).
Esther has been collaborating with Joy Wong Liu LMFT and artist Mason Tong on a not yet published fully manga-illustrated marriage handbook since 2018. Esther and Joy offer Marriage Survival Trainings, which are marriage intensives for couples, as a synthesis of some of the key concepts from their shared research and expertise. Esther also collaborated with Alyssa F. Chen to launch fun psychoeducational resources, starting with We’re All Different Kinds of Nuts: Where Do You Get Your Energy?, a booklet published in June 2022.
